Super Mario Mario & Luigi

Fishin' Boo is an enemy which first appears in Super Mario World.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

They are relatives of Fishin' Lakitus, also moving around in a cloud like them, but a difference with Fishin' Boos is that their fishing rod possesses a blue flame instead of a 1-Up Mushroom.

Behavior[]

A Fishin' Boo relentlessly stalks Mario or another playable character upon noticing them. The Fishin' Boo attempts to use its blue flame to burn the character.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario World[]

Fishin' Boos make their debut in Super Mario World. In this games, it attacks Mario (or Luigi) by hanging a blue fire over his head trying to get him to touch it, they are commonly found in Ghost Houses and relentlessly stalk the plumbers as they travel through the corridors. Fishin' Boos cannot be defeated but the plumbers can use various maneuvers to outrun them.

Super Mario Run[]

Fishin' Boos were added in the version 3.0.4 update. They are featured in the level Fishing Boo Taunts You as a common enemy. Hazardous flames are not the only things that Fishin' Boos carry on their rods, as they can also carry a Super Mushroom, a 1-Up Mushroom (like with Fishin' Lakitus), a Coin, and sometimes even a Starman. Fishin' Boos aren't as durable as they were previously and can be beaten with the effects of a Starman or by stomping on their heads. Defeating a Fishin' Boo also reveals it to be a ghostly creature under a sheet.

In Nintendo Puzzle Collection[]

A Fishin' Boo appears in the game's remake of Yoshi's Cookie, as the fourth non-player opponent in VS. Mode on Hard difficulty.

In Super Princess Peach[]

They return as enemies, with Fishing Boo now being the spelling of their name. Similarly as in previous appearances, Fishing Boos retain their behavior of holding a fishing rod with a flame and trying to hit Princess Peach with it. Fishing Boos are commonly found in Shriek Mansion and Bowser's Villa and are slightly more aggressive than in Super Mario World. Shriek Mansion 3-2 is the first level where Fishing Boos appear. There is also a sleepy variety called the Calm Fishin' Boo which sleeps until Peach approaches it. Fishing Boos and Calm Fishin' Boos can both be defeated by Peach's Rage vibe.

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[]

A literal Fishin' Boo apparently appears with the bonus roulette on Bowser's level up screen. However, this is a generic Boo with a fishing rod and not the Lakitu variant. The "Fishin' Boo" fills the Lakitu's role on Bowser's level-up screen.

Unused appearances[]

Fishin' Boos were planned to appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii but were removed for unknown reasons.
