First-Person View (ドライバー視点モード Doraibā shiten mōdo?, Driver's perspective mode) is a gameplay mechanic in Mario Kart 7.

First-Person View allows the player to steer their character's kart by tilting the Nintendo 3DS while gameplay is shown from the perspective of their driver. A steering wheel with the character's emblem is shown in First-Person View. If the player's character gets hit by an item, the angle switches to third-person view briefly before returning to first-person view once the player character has regained control of their kart.
The steering wheel can become golden if the player uses tilt controls 80 or more times for their last 100 races, but the wheel eventually returns to its original state if the player stops using motion controls.
