Dinosaur Land (also called Dinosaur Island or Dinosaur World) is a place that is the main setting of Super Mario World and media based on it, such as the Super Mario World television show. Yoshis live on Yoshi's Island and other parts of Dinosaur Land. It contains a mountain, a forest, a massive dome shaped cave, and also an underground valley.

Species[]

Dinosaur Land (specifically Yoshi's Island) is primarily inhabited by Yoshis. As for the other native species, it is unknown what creatures already lived in Dinosaur Land and what creatures came there when Bowser's forces attacked the islands. During Mario's stay in Dinosaur Land, Koopas, Goombas, as well as inorganic creatures like Thwomps and Bullet Bills.

Despite the name, this place has a few other dinosaur species. Most of the inhabitants are not dinosaurs (including Koopas and Goombas). The only other dinosaur species found on the island are Blarggs, Dino-Rhinos, Dino-Torches, Rexes, and Reznors. However, the reason why it is called "Dinosaur Land" is because it is inhabited by Yoshis.

History[]

Super Mario World[]

Bowser and the Koopa Troop took over Dinosaur Land and trapped the Yoshis in eggs. Bowser also built a castle in the underground valley and took Princess Peach with him. Mario and Luigi eventually defeats Bowser and his army and restores Dinosaur Land to its initial state.

Super Mario World show[]

Dinosaur Land is the setting where every episode of the Super Mario World show take place.

Super Mario Bros. film[]

Dinosaur Land was the inspiration for Dinohattan in the Super Mario Bros. film.
