Mouser is a gray mouse boss who first appears in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and its overseas conversion, Super Mario Bros. 2.

The first battle against Mouser in World 1-3 in the original Super Mario Bros. 2
In Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, Mouser is fought as a world boss three times, first being encountered in World 1-3, followed by World 3-3, and lastly World 5-3. In Super Mario Bros. 2, the third boss fight against Mouser was replaced with Clawgrip. In Super Mario Advance, another boss was introduced, Robirdo, who is fought in World 3-3, shifting Mouser's second battle to World 6-3, replacing the second battle against Tryclyde in previous versions.
Mouser stands on a floating platform. Here, he tosses Bombs at the playable character, who must throw them back at Mouser. If the Bomb explodes on Mouser, he takes damage. This must be done three times to defeat Mouser. The World 3-3 battle is mostly the same, but with the addition of a Spark circling the area. In the original Nintendo Entertainment System version, the Mouser in World 3-3 is depicted with green ears, unlike in World 1-3, where Mouser's ears are pink, matching its artwork. In Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, the Mouser encountered in World 5-3 is colored white; differences included a few spikes being on the floor and requiring six hits to defeat it.

Mouser is one of King Koopa's minions in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, just like several of the other 8 bits.
The Nintendo Comics System story "A Mouser in the Houser" prominently features Mouser. It reveals that he was ruled a race of mice who bore his appearance. However, Mouser later betrayed them to join Bowser, causing the society to collapse and forcing the mice to find scraps for food.
