Big Boo Battle is an exclusive location in Super Mario 64 DS. After 15 stars Mario must go to Big Boo's Haunt and go to the third floor near the balcony and enter the Luigi painting. After entering the painting, Mario will be transported to this course which apparently is located on the tower of Big Boo's Haunt.
Mario starts off in a Merry-Go-Round room and has to listen to the Boo's laughter. If the player uses the wrong door or falls off an edge, they return to the beginning and don't lose a life. King Boo's echoing laughter can be heard from the correct door. The correct order is right, left, right left. After this, is a room with a crumbling bridge, traverse the bridge and then climb the elevators.
Once Mario reaches the end, he'll get warped into a hole and fall into a room with a mirror reflection. Then King Boo will come out. He's mistakenly called Big Boo. Mario must hit him three times. This boo can spit fire. Upon defeating King Boo, Mario earns the key to unlock Luigi. If Wario battles him, he says his face could scare a ghost.
Battle[]
King Boo behaves identically to a standard Boo but he can also turn invisible (his reflection is still visible in the mirror), he can also become impervious to attack upon being looked at. King Boo will chase after you and try to damage you. To defeat him, either ground pound him or punch him from behind. Ever so often, he will reveal himself and spit out blue fireballs to attack you. Avoid these and attack King Boo again. After 3 hits, King Boo will disappear and give up the key to Luigi's cell.
Stars[]
Two Stars can be found in this course, they are listed below.
1. Red Coins.[]
Note: One of them is under a black brick, that Wario can break meaning you will have to come back for this one later. The locations are listed below.
- On the Merry-Go-Round at the start, the Red Coin is located on the north door.
- On the Mr. I's platform in the second room.
- On the crumbling bridge east of the Mr. I in the second room.
- North East of the third room. Mario's Ballon powers (via the Power Flower) or Luigi's backflip can be used to reach the Red Coin.
- On the ledge by the correct door in the third room.
- In the fourth room, jump on the elevator and grab the Red Coin.
- In the fourth room on the final elevator.
- Inside a black box inside the final room before the crumbling bridge, Wario's strength is required to break it open to reveal the 8th and final Red Coin.
After all 8 Red Coins have been obtained, the Star will appear near the 8th Red Coin's location.
2. Boo Painting[]
Note: Luigi must use a power flower to go through the ghost painting at the end and earn another star.
You will need Luigi for this Star, go to the third room, grab a Power Flower from the ? Block and make a dash for the painting (in the fourth room, long jump from the platform to the left door) and race to the painting, the Star is inside the hidden room behind the painting.

Trivia[]
- The room where King Boo is fought in resembles a Nintendo DS as shown on the map.
- Via glitches, if you get any other Red Coin (that isn't the one inside the black box) last, two Stars will appear above the Star Marker. This can effectively be used to total the Star Count to 151 Stars.
