Fiery Walking Piranhas (also called Walking Ptooies or Fire Nipper Plants) are a rare sub-species of Nipper Plant with the ability to spit fireballs. They behave similarly to their nipping cousins, but instead of biting at the plumbers, they prefer to spit volleys of fireballs at them. It is presumed that after a certain point, Fiery Walking Piranhas bloom into Venus Fire Traps.

A Fiery Walking Piranha Attacks!
Fiery Walking Piranhas are first seen in Super Mario Bros. 3. In this game, they behave similarly to the regular Nipper Plants however, when Mario/Luigi comes near, they start spitting fireballs at him similar to a Venus Fire Trap however Fiery Walking Piranhas can spit up to four fireballs at once. Fiery Walking Piranhas are rather rare enemies with only one appearing in the whole game, the Fiery Walking Piranha only appears in World 7-8. Like a regular Nipper Plant, a Fiery Walking Piranha can be defeated with the effects of a Fire Flower, Super Leaf, Tanooki Suit, Hammer Suit, or a Starman. If Hammer Mario ducks, he will be immune to the fireballs that Fiery Walking Piranha spits.

- Fire-breathing Nipper Plants are also seen in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team however, due to also possessing the abilities of regular Nipper Plants, these aren't technically Fiery Walking Piranhas, similarly the Piranha Plants in said game also posses the fire-breathing abilities of a Venus Fire Trap whilst also retaining the abilities of a regular Piranha Plant.
