Fawflants are an enemy in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and its remake Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. They are only encountered in Toad Town Caves. Due to their location, Fawflants cannot be fought by Bowser. Mario and Luigi encounter two of them as a miniboss as they try to stop Fawful from taking the Dark Star; because of this ambush, Fawful succeeds with his theft.

Physical description[]
A Fawflant is a robotic ant with a light green body, yellow feet, yellow antennae, and a silver drill for an abdomen. It has a face like that of Fawful's.
Behavior[]
Fawflants spin their drill to try and attack Mario and Luigi. Because of the drill on their back, Fawflants have to walk backward to move around while their drill is activated. Fawflants also use this move on the field, where if Mario or Luigi is hit, the Fawflant strikes first. In battle, if a Fawflant uses the attack, there is a chance that Mario or Luigi become poisoned if they get hit. Either brother can counter a Fawflant while it is drilling by using their hammer. If more than one appears, the Fawflants can perform a teamup move that must be jumped over.
A Fawflant is a Level 13 enemy with 100 (150 with the Challenge Medal), an Attack Power of 42 (105 with the Challenge Medal), a Defense of 34 (51 with the Challenge Medal) and a Speed of 56 (84 with the Challenge Medal). It gives 70 Experience Points and 30 Coins (45 with the Challenge Medal) when slain, and can drop a Supersyrup Jar (7 in 200 drops) and/or a Super Nut (3 in 200 drops). The Fawflant has regular reactions to status effects.

Nomenclature[]
In Japanese, Fawflants are called "Geranko" (written ゲランコ), a portmanteau of Fawful's Japanese name (Gerakobittsu; written ゲラコビッツ) and the Japanese translation of "ant" (arinko; written 蟻ん子). In Spanish, their name is Alácravitz, from alacrán (synonym of escorpión ("scorpion"), despite them taking their designs from ants; the Latin American versions corrected this by translating their name as Fawformiga, albeit not translating Fawful's name) and Grácovitz (which Fawful uses as his Spanish name, taken from his Japanese name). Italian refers to them as Formighigno, a blend of fórmica ("ant") and Fawful's Italian name Sogghigno. Their French name, Formicovitz, is a calque of their Italian name, being formed from fourmi ("ant") and Gracowitz (Fawful's French name). Their German name, Krankmite, comes from Krankfried (Fawful's German name) merged with the English word "termite" (despite their ant design; the actual translation of "ant" is "Ameise"). In the Korean dub, they are referred to as Kkareugaemi (written 까르개미), a portmanteau of Fawful's Korena name (Kkareukobicheu; written 까르코비츠) and gaemi ("ant"; written 개미).
