A Favorite Fruit is a game mechanic in Yoshi's Story.
Description[]
Each Yoshi has at least two Favorite Fruits, which can be either apples, bananas, grapes, melons, and watermelons. All Yoshis have melons as one of their Favorite Fruits. If a Yoshi eats their Favorite Fruit, they receive three times as many hearts and health than is granted by other fruit.
The Favorite Fruit of a Yoshi is often similarly colored to them, such as how Red Yoshi likes apples and Yellow Yoshi likes bananas. Black Yoshi and White Yoshi have every fruit as their Favorite Fruits.
The Yoshis prefer the Lucky Fruit, which is chosen at random when starting a new game, over their Favorite Fruits. The Lucky Fruit rewards eight hearts and fully restores the Smile Meter.
