The Family Computer (often abbreviated as Famicom) is the Japanese equivalent of the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was first released ion July 15, 1983, two years before the Nintendo Entertainment System's release in North America in 1985.

Description[]

Differences that the Family Computer has from the Nintendo Entertainment System include the inability to unplug the controllers from the system as well as being able to attach them to the sides. The controllers are also slightly more round and are differently colored. The first controller can pause the game, while the second one can control audio. The cartridges were smaller than the NES's, and inserted in the top rather than a door (which the NES has). Its cartridges also closely resemble a SNES cartridge, but in different colors.

It has 30 pre-installed Famicom games, with slight differences in the games included. Production for the console discontinued in April 2017.
