Fake ? Panels are based on Fake Item Boxes from the Mario Kart series in that they are an item imitating the appearance of an object granting an item, which in a Fake ? Panel's case is a ? Panel. At first, a Fake ? Panel has the appearance of a red ? Block, although with a horizontally flipped question mark. When a Fake ? Panel is thrown onto the ground, it has nearly the same appearance as a ? Panel, but its only distinguishing factor is a horizontally flipped question mark. If a character walks onto a Fake ? Panel, they trip over and lose coins.
