Expresso the Ostrich is an Animal Buddy to the Kong Family appearing in the Donkey Kong series.
Games[]
Donkey Kong Country/Land[]
Expresso makes his first appearance in Donkey Kong Country as one of the Animal Buddies to help Donkey and Diddy out on their adventure to stop the Kremling Krew. He can flap throughout the air temporarily and even has his own token. Due to the tallness of Expresso, some enemies, such as Klaptraps pass right through him.
He reappears in Donkey Kong Land acting the same way as in its semi-sequel, but can defeat enemies when jumping on them.
Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)[]
Expresso reappears in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest as a racing bird acquired by Cranky inside of his hut. Unfortunately, he was weak so Diddy and Dixie had to gain feathers to power up some of his stats. When racing, he races against red, blue and a green coloration of Expresso with different names. When winning first place all across Crocodile Isle, his image is saved inside of the scrapbook.
Donkey Kong Racing[]
Expresso can be seen at the beginning of the trailer in Donkey Kong Racing where thousands of them can be seen running.
Diddy Kong Pilot (2003 build)[]
Expresso appears in the 2003 build of Diddy Kong Pilot making numerous cameos in desert levels. There is even a smaller and bigger variation of him in later desert levels.
Trivia[]
- Expresso makes a cameo appearance in Jinxy's Dunes in Banjo-Pilot. It is unknown why Expresso wasn't removed.
- The Turbo Trainers from the Banjo-Kazooie series resemble and act as Expresso's sneakers.
- Cranky mentions Expresso in Donkey Kong 64 that Winky and Expresso never get the games because of the swordfish and the bone-brained rhino.
