Not to be confused with Enemy Battles.

An Enemy Course is a type of level featured in a few Super Mario series games. Enemy Courses first appear in Super Mario Bros. 3 and return in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U as well as its variation New Super Luigi U and remake New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.

Description[]

Enemy Courses are single-screen areas that Mario or another playable character forcefully enter if they bump into an enemy on the world map. There, they are forced to fight one or more enemies of that type. Although the playable characters are forced to enter an Enemy Course upon encountering an enemy, the areas themselves are optional, because they can be skipped if the playable characters manage to avoid the enemy on the world map. If Mario or another playable character defeats every enemy in an Enemy Course, they are rewarded a power-up item, and the enemy stops appearing on the world map. If Mario or another character lose a life in an Enemy Course, they are knocked back on to the world map, where the enemy continues to roam around.
