Egg Plants are a species of flowers which appear in the Yoshi platformers. They spit out Yoshi Eggs for a Yoshi to collect. Egg Plants first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Despite being similarly named (and identically pronounced) to eggplants, Egg Plants do not have any connection to them.

Egg Plants appear in nearly every level. Like Egg Blocks, they can release Yoshi Eggs individually up until the Yoshi has a full supply of six, although Egg Plants do it automatically whereas for an Egg Block, a Yoshi has to jump underneath it to obtain Yoshi Eggs. If a Yoshi has six eggs, the Egg Plant only coughs out individual puffs of smoke. A Yoshi can Ground Pound next to an Egg Plant to have it release multiple Yoshi Eggs at a time.
