Dune Bud

Dune Buds are a species in Super Mario Sunshine. They only appear in Gelato Beach.

Description[]

Dune Buds are purple plants found on Gelato Beach. Mario can have FLUDD spray a Dune Bud with water or if Yoshi can squirt Juice causing it to swell up, turning orange in the process, before causing a sand dune of a certain shape to emerge for a few seconds before melting back into the sand. If Mario is standing where the Dune Bud is when it sinks into the ground, he gets lunged high into the air saying "waaaaaah!". Dune Buds can also have the ability to kill CataQuacks. In Gelato Beach's third episode, Wiggler Ahoy! Full Steam Ahead!, sinking a Dune Bud into the sand when Wiggler approaches is required to flip over Wiggler, therefore giving Mario the opportunity to ground-pound it.
