Dr. Freezegood

Dr. Freezegoods are a snowman enemy from the Yoshi's Island series. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

A Dr. Freezegood has the appearance of an ordinary snowman, but with an added red bucket on its head and a green scarf wrapped around where its two body segments meet. A Dr. Freezegood is always seen riding a pair of orange skis.

Behavior[]

A Dr. Freezegood is usually seen riding down a snowy hill on their skis. In the Yoshi's Island series, several Dr. Freezegoods ride a ski lift at first before dropping off to start skiing.

Dr. Freezegoods are only encountered in World 5. Similarly to Bumpties, a Dr. Freezegood does not injure a Yoshi, but it pushes him as it moves downhill. If a Dr. Freezegood is not sliding downhill, it remains idle. A Yoshi can defeat a Dr. Freezegood by jumping onto its head, also causing the Dr. Freezegood to release a few coins, but Dr. Freezegoods cannot be eaten.

Yoshi's New Island[]

Dr. Freezegoods return as enemies, particularly within the level Ski Lift Leap. Here, Dr. Freezegoods are found skiing down slopes in the first area, while in the second area, one is seen riding a ski lift. A Dr. Freezegood crumbles on contact, and they do not spawn any coins, unlike in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Dr. Freezegood's name is likely derived from Dr. Feelgood, an album from the real-world heavy metal band Mötley Crüe.
