Template:Game infobox Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, also known in Japan as Super Donkey Kong 3: Nazo no Kuremisu Shima (スーパードンキーコング3~謎のクレミス島~, Sūpā Donkī Kongu Surī ~Nazo no Kuremisu Shima~, "Super Donkey Kong Three: Mysterious Isle Kremis") is the third game in the successful Donkey Kong Country series. It was first released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996. It is succeeded by Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and has Donkey Kong Country Returns as a sequel. Donkey Kong Land III is also its semi-sequel.

Nine years later, a remake for the game had finally been released on the Game Boy Advance in 2005. This version had finally been released on a handheld device and has some new additions added into the game.

Two years later, Donkey Kong Country 3 had been released on December 2007 as a Christmas present on the Wii's Virtual Console. This game, along with the other two Donkey Kong Country games, were delisted on the Virtual Console on November 2012 in North America without awareness (November 25, 2012 in Europe, but with awareness).

Story

Many months after the Kremling Krew's defeat in Donkey Kong Country 2, the monkeys are all still very happy and still are partying. Also, they are said to be lying on hammocks drinking banana shakes. One day, Dixie noticed that Diddy had left early. She then found a dropped note saying that Donkey and Diddy himself are out on a trip to seek out the Northern Kremisphere.

After a few days of searching, Dixie still notices that Donkey and Diddy are gone missing. She first goes to Wrinkly whom explains to her about Banana Birds and saves her game. Then, she goes to Funky's Rentals where Funky gives Dixie her toddler cousin, Kiddy, the only customer in the rentals. Soon enough, Dixie and Kiddy both went on an adventure to seek out the two monkeys.

During the events of the game, the monkeys scavenged through lakes, forests, coral reefs, pipelines, etc. throughout Lake Orangatanga, Kremwood Forest, Cotton-Top Cove, Mekanos, K3, Razor Ridge and Pacifica (exclusive to the Game Boy Advance version. With help from Wrinkly and the Brothers Bears until finally reaching the world KAOS Kore.

When scavenging through the KAOS Kore, Dixie and Kiddy finally reach the castle where KAOS is found. KAOS rematches the two monkeys. When KAOS is defeated, a curtain opens up, revealing that Baron K. Roolenstein is the one whom had been controlling KAOS the entire time. Out of rage, Baron K. Roolenstein decides to battle the two monkeys. Once Baron K. Roolenstein is defeated, Donkey and Diddy are finally revealed on where they have been all along; inside of KAOS as the power source for it.

Even though the two monkeys are rescued, the adventure is not over for Dixie and Kiddy just yet. They still are needed to find the lost world, Krematoa which is hidden underwater with four rocks circling it. Here, rocks are needed to be busted to access the levels in the area, depending on the amount of Bonus Coins collected. Once all of the levels are completed by the monkeys, Baron K. Roolenstein is seen once more and is rematched. Once he is defeated, he still doesn't stop. Dixie and Kiddy then have to gain all of the DK Coins to obtain the Gyrocopter, allowing them to soar at great heights and find all of the Banana Birds whom are needed to break the barrier of the Banana Bird Queen who soon kicks Baron K. Roolenstein out of the Northern Kremisphere.

Differences from the Game Boy Advance version

In 2005, a Game Boy Advance version for Donkey Kong Country 3 had been released with a fair amount of differences, due to the game's rush in creation. It has the following differences;

  • When collecting a Bonus Coin, Dixie and Kiddy stay in the Bonus Level until automatically transported out of the level. In the Super NES version, they walk out of the level.
  • Ellie borrows SFX from Rambi. She had her own SFX in the original.
  • A new world called Pacifica appears in the game.
  • A ping is heard when passing a No Animal Sign, instead of a boom.
  • Enguarde's stab attack is greater in speed.
  • One or two enemies now give Dixie and Kiddy a speed boost. In the original, only one is needed.
  • Dixie moves quicker when carrying objects in this version than the Super NES version.
  • Cranky chats to Dixie and Kiddy after a boss is defeated.
  • Cranky runs his own dojo, replacing all of the ones in the area, except for the one in the Northern Kremisphere's main map where Wrinkly now runs her own retreat.
  • Bachelor is a new Brothers Bear in this game, making Bachelor relocate to Pacifica.
  • Kroctopus is a new boss in Razor Ridge, making Barbos relocate in Pacifica.
  • Swanky no longer runs his own sideshow. He now runs a virtual reality minigame.
  • Funky now has his own minigames.
  • A new soundtrack has been added.
  • The Brothers Bears' areas have been redesigned. They also all share the same music tune.
  • Unlike the original, the DK Coin is automatically obtained once Koin is defeated. Also, when one is collected, it shows ?/68 on the screen, as opposed to the original only showing the amount.
  • Due to the backlit of the Game Boy Advance, levels such as Murky Mill are brighter.
  • Blizzard is a grizzly bear, unlike the original where he was a polar bear.
  • Swanky's sprite was lazily taken from Donkey Kong Country 2 for the Game Boy Advance.
  • The COLOR and MERRY cheats are removed.
  • Five more Banana Birds are added in the game, making there be twenty in total.
  • The world map is zoomed in closer.
  • Dixie Kong's Photo Album is removed in the game.
  • Only the lake turns red when Knautilus is unlocked. as opposed to the entire area.
  • Rocket Rush has increased difficulty and includes the letter G in the North American version, as opposed to the original lacking one.
  • Enemies borrow their SFX from the previous two Donkey Kong Country remakes for the Game Boy Advance.
  • The Box of Chocolates is a new item added in the game.
  • Bramble can be visited at any time after Mekanos is completed.
  • Squirt is more advanced in terms of difficulty.
  • The Banana Bird Caves now have the D-pad used, instead of A, B, X and Y in the original.
  • Barrel Shield Bust-Up and Springin' Spiders have swapped places.
  • Steel Kegs move slower in the game.
  • Extra Life Balloons lack white eyes.
  • Rolling SFX is included. This is not the case in the original.
  • Cheat names have been changed.
  • After the eruption of Krematoa, the water inside of it can be swam in. There is also no bridge leading to Knautilus.
  • Flags are added once a Banana Bird Cave is completed.
  • Less lightning bolts appear in Lightning Lookout.
  • Castle KAOS is bland and less detailed than in the Super NES version.
