Mario Party

Don't Look is a Free-For-All mini-game in Mario Party 9 and Mario Party: The Top 100.

Layout[]

The minigame features a background nearly identical to the Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, except without the ? Block patterns. Two of the characters are standing on a higher platform, while the other two are standing on the lower floor, with part of their lower body off-screen.

In Mario Party 9, four of the playable characters—Toad, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, and Magikoopa—each stand on a stool when participating in this minigame, just like in Card Smarts, because of their short height. However, Koopa Troopa and Magikoopa stand on short stools, while Toad and Shy Guy stand on tall stools, because Koopa Troopa and Magikoopa are taller than Toad and Shy Guy. Toad and Shy Guy also stand on stools in Pizza Me, Mario and Launch Break.

Opening[]

The characters are standing on the floor. They move while three groups of arrows appear.

Gameplay[]

Don't Look has comparable gameplay to Mario Party 2's Look Away, but the object does not involve the characters facing in the opposite direction of another character. There are ten rounds. In each round, blue arrows pointing in different directions are displayed onscreen, and the object is for the character to look in the direction that the arrows are not currently pointed in. The first two rounds feature only one arrow; the next four rounds feature two arrows; and the last four rounds feature three arrows. Each round gives the characters less reactionary time to decide where their character has to look. If a character either looks in the wrong direction or does not look in any direction within the time limit, they lose at the round, showing a sad expression. Whoever wins in the most rounds is the overall winner.

Trivia[]
