Delfino Airstrip is the starting area in Super Mario Sunshine. It is an area of Isle Delfino where tourists first come to when traveling by plane. Delfino Airstrip is a simple landing strip built on small islets in the waters near Delfino Plaza. While on the island, it is also possible to reach via boat.
In Super Mario Sunshine[]
Here, Mario learns how to control F.L.U.D.D., and is also where Mario, Peach, Toadsworth and his Toads crash. After learning how to control F.L.U.D.D., Mario washes away a giant paint plant and obtain your first Shine Sprite. Upon completion of the game, Mario can pay ten coins and re-visit this place to do a red coin hunt, and to obtain the 100 coin Shine Sprite.
The Delfino Airstrip also introduces the Pianta species, and the Polluted Piranha Plant, a recurring boss throughout the game.
