- "[gasps] ...Uhhhh, THAT... is not good. Umm... Your brother... has landed in the Dark Lands. They're under... [whispers] Bowser's control!"
- —Toad, The Super Mario Bros. Movie
The Dark Lands is a haunted area where Dry Bones are found. It appeared in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Description[]
The Dark Lands consists of leafless hollow trees, many lava flows and volcanoes. Many small castles and palaces can be found here, so the Dark Lands are not completely devoid of architecture. However, the castles, much like everything else, are broken down, abandoned, and almost completely lifeless.
History[]
As Mario was separated from Luigi, Luigi was warped in the Dark Lands. Once he met a Dry Bones shortly after, he got chased down by a whole group of them, almost dying multiple times, whether it be by a Dry Bones or by lava. However, Luigi managed to find a castle and shut the door between him and the Dry Bones. Unfortunately, Luigi doesn't have much time to rest, as a group of Shy Guys and a Snifit capture him behind him instead.
Later, they take Luigi on their blimp to Bowser's Castle. Along the way, Luigi looks at the castle he just got taken away from, and remembered a time when he was a kid. He builds a toy castle, but it gets kicked down by a kid bully. However, the kid bully was driven away by Mario. This thought made Luigi start to miss his brother, while the Shy Guys made way toward Bowser's Castle.
