Daredevil Comet

Daredevil Comets are one of the Prankster Comets that orbit the galaxies in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Their theme is shared with the Speedy Comet, which equals or could rival them in danger level. When Mario enters a galaxy with the Daredevil Comet orbiting it, he usually must battle the galaxy's boss with a maximum health of one (except Melty Molten Galaxy, because the mission does not have a boss and must be fully competed with only one slice of health.). Also, all Life Mushrooms and coins are removed from the level, so that the player cannot get them. If Mario has to fight a boss and there is a Daredevil Comet, he will be sent straight to the planet with the boss. Daredevil comets also destroy any recovery items with their influence.

Daredevil Comets reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 in certain galaxies after collecting enough Comet Medals. They play the same role as in the original Super Mario Galaxy, and their influence may sometimes change the layout, as seen in Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker.

Availability[]

The Daredevil Comet appears in the following galaxies.

Super Mario Galaxy[]

  • Battlerock Galaxy (Topmaniac's Daredevil Run; Mario must battle Topmaniac. Based off Mission 3: Topmaniac and the Topman Tribe.)
  • Ghostly Galaxy (Bouldergeist's Daredevil Run; Mario must battle Bouldergeist. Based off Mission 3: Beware Of Bouldergeist.)
  • Gusty Garden Galaxy (Major Burrows's Daredevil Run; Mario must battle Major Burrows. Based off Mission 2: The Dirty Tricks Of Major Burrows.)
  • Deep Dark Galaxy (Ghost Ship Daredevil Run; Mario must fight Kamella to take back the Ghost Ship. Based off Mission 1: The Underground Ghost Ship.)
  • Melty Molten Galaxy (Lava Spire Daredevil Run; Mario must make his way to the Lava Spire and climb to the top fast after it comes to life and tries to kill him by sinking into the lava. There is a 2 minute time limit for the climb, based off Mission 1: The Sinking Lava Spire.)

Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

  • Spin-Dig Galaxy (Digga Leg's Daredevil Run; Mario must fight Digga Leg. Based off Mission 1: Digga Leg's Moon.)
  • Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet (Megahammer's Daredevil Run; Mario must fight Bowser Jr.'s Mighty Megahammer. Based off Mission 1: Bowser Jr.'s Mighty Megahammer, and erroneously written as Megahammer's Daredevil Bash.)
  • Slipsand Galaxy (Squizzard's Daredevil Run; Mario must fight Squizzard. Based off Mission 1: Squizzard's Sandy Sinkhole.)
  • Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker (Boomsday Machine Daredevil Run; Mario must fight Bowser Jr.'s Boomsday Machine. Based off Mission 1: Bowser Jr.'s Boomsday Machine.)
  • Battle Belt Galaxy (Mini Planet Daredevil Run; Mario must complete Mission 1: Mini Planet Mega Run with only one stamina point.)
  • Grandmaster Galaxy (The Perfect Run; This is the final mission of the game. Mario has to get through the Galaxy without getting hurt or falling. Ironically, jolly music plays, a trait similar to Super Mario 3D World's Champion's Road; in this case, the music during this mission is taken from the original Super Mario Galaxy.
