Cyan Yoshis (also called Light Blue Yoshis, Light-Blue Yoshis, Azure Yoshis, Pale Blue Yoshis, Sky-Blue Yoshis, or simply Blue Yoshis) are a color variation of the Yoshi debuting in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. These Yoshis are shown to be rather ditzy, curious, and fun-loving and always ready for an adventure.

Cyan Yoshis are first seen in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. In this game, they are playable in the third level of each world, these being The Cave Of Chomp Rock, What's Gusty Taste Like?, Nep-Enut's Domain, Don't Look Back!, Danger - Icy Conditions Ahead, and Beware The Spinning Logs. In the GBA remake, the Cyan Yoshi's "light blue" hue was given a brighter effect.

Yoshi's Story[]

A Cyan Yoshi also appears as a playable character in Yoshi's Story. as one of the many playable Yoshis that you can choose from before starting a level. A Cyan Yoshi wears purple shoes and a red saddle in this game, a color scheme also present in most later games.

A Cyan Yoshi appears in the Modern mode of Egg, where it has to eat cookies. It also appears as the default playable character in the Modern mode of Ball, where it has to bounce Yoshi Eggs off tennis rackets without letting them hit the ground.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit[]

A Cyan Yoshi appears as a playable character in Mario Kart: Super Circuit exclusive to the multiplayer mode when playing with players that don't have Mario Kart: Super Circuit inserted inside their Game Boy Advance. Player 3 always plays as a Cyan Yoshi.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga[]

Cyan Yoshis are seen again in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. In this game, they can be found all around Yoshi Theater alongside various other Yoshis, one Cyan Yoshi is shown to be hungry and is in need of a Bean Fruit to satisfy his hunger, once the Bean Fruit is found, the Cyan Yoshi will give the plumbers a Neon Egg.

Super Mario 64 DS[]

A Cyan Yoshi appears in Super Mario 64 DS during the minigame Tox Box Shuffle. Starting with level 4, a Cyan Yoshi will be added into the mix alongside the Green Yoshi as the Tox Boxes slam over both Yoshis and start shuffling, the player must select the correct Tox Box holding the Yoshi displayed on the top screen, if the right Yoshi is picked, the level can be advanced but if the Tox Box holding the wrong Yoshi or no Yoshi at all is picked, a life is lost.

Yoshi Touch & Go[]

In Yoshi Touch & Go, you can acquire a Cyan Yoshi by achieving a score of at least 60, but less than 80 points in the vertical falling parts of the game. Here, the Cyan Yoshi can carry a total of 20 eggs and is the second slowest Yoshi.

Cyan Yoshis appear in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. In this game, they can be seen residing on Yoshi's Island, the Cyan Yoshis alongside all the other Yoshis were eaten by the colossal Shroob-Yoshi Yoob after it was dropped off on Yoshi's Island. Once Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi end up inside Yoob, the see a Cyan Yoshi being harassed by a drone-like Shroob UFO being controlled by an RC Shroober. The baby plumbers manage to destroy the Shroob UFO from the wall behind with water and then eliminate the RC Shroober thus freeing the Cyan Yoshi allowing him to help the other Yoshis provide an escape path with the Chomp Rock, during the battle with Sunnycide, there are several Yoob Eggs that can be broken open and the fourth Yoshi to be freed each time is a Cyan Yoshi. Upon Sunnycides defeat, the Cyan Yoshis along with all the other Yoshis can finally escape Yoob's Belly and return to their normal lives on the Island.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Cyan Yoshis return in Yoshi's Island DS retaining their role from the original. In this game, they are once again playable in the third level of each world, these being Mario's Fleet Feet, Windblown Wilderness, Island of Peril, In the Clouds, and Spear Guys' Village Found!. The abilities of the Cyan Yoshi are the same as that of the other Yoshis.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[]

Cyan Yoshi makes an appearance in New Super Mario Bros. Wii as one of the four rideable Yoshis alongside the Green Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, and Pink Yoshi. The Cyan Yoshi is always the third Yoshi to be hatched and retains the same abilities as the other Yoshis, being able to swallow enemies, stomp on spiked enemies harmlessly, and he can also swallow Berries, and swallowing five will award the plumbers with either a power-up or a 1-Up Mushroom. The Cyan Yoshi is Yellow Toad's signature Yoshi, originally, a Blue Yoshi was going to appear in the Cyan Yoshi's place.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

Cyan Yoshis themselves don't technically appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 however Yoshi can become a Cyan Yoshi upon swallowing the Blimp Fruit. Upon ingestion, he becomes a balloon-like Cyan Yoshi that can fly like a Balloon until he runs out of air, during this time, he can swallow more Blimp Fruits to prolong the effects however he can't beat enemies by swallowing them and must avoid all enemies and hazards.

Yoshi's New Island[]

Cyan Yoshis are seen again in Yoshi's New Island. In this game, they retain the abilities from the previous games and are playable in the third levels of each world, these being, Cave of the Nipper Plants, Seesaw Scramble, Harry Hedgehog's Labyrinth, Spin-Lift Drift, Ski Lift Leap, and Gargantua Blargg Attacks!. In a beta trailer for the game, a Cyan Yoshi was also seen fighting Count Fang. This was later changed to a Blue Yoshi in the game's final build as he is fought in Count Fang's Castle (the final level of World 2).

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

Cyan Yoshi (under the name Light-Blue Yoshi) appears as a playable character in Mario Kart 8 as of the November 2014 update. In this game, he (alongside several other colored Yoshis) can be unlocked by purchasing both DLC packs. The Cyan Yoshi can be selected through a dropdown menu which comes up when selecting Yoshi. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Cyan Yoshi and all the other colored Yoshis are unlocked by default and don't need to be unlocked or purchased. The Cyan Yoshi (like all the other Yoshis) is player-exclusive meaning CPU Cyan Yoshis never race.

Yoshi's Woolly World / Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[]

Cyan Yoshi reappears as a playable character in Yoshi's Woolly World as well as Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. If file three is picked, the Cyan Yoshi will be the default playable character, alongside Red Yoshi, who is always playable. The Cyan Yoshi does not play differently when compared to other Yoshis. If the game is not played on file three, Cyan Yoshi may be unlocked as a playable character by finishing the game or by scanning a Light-Blue Yarn Yoshi amiibo.

Paper Mario: Color Splash[]

Cyan Yoshis appear in Paper Mario: Color Splash alongside several other Yoshis in a cage at the Emerald Circus. Unlike most other games, the Cyan Yoshis are actually wild creatures who swallow those who come near. After Lemmy Koopa's disappearance during his performance, all the Yoshis escape the coop, during Mario's battles in the Circus Tent, a Cyan Yoshi may show up to swallow him, if successful, it will spit out Mario for some damage and also cause him to lose his Battle Card, if Mario blocks the attack, the Cyan Yoshi leaves harmlessly.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[]

Cyan Yoshis are seen again in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions reprising their role from the original, they are once again found in Yoshi Theater and one is hungry and wants to eat a Bean Fruit to satisfy this hunger. Upon eating the Bean Fruit, the Cyan Yoshi will give the plumbers a Neon Egg. Several Yoshis (including Cyan Yoshis) are also seen on the touch screen in the cinema chairs during the events of Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser.

Yoshi's Crafted World[]

Cyan Yoshis return in Yoshi's Crafted World retaining the same role as in previous games, they are among one of the selectable Yoshis and can be played as in any level of the game.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder[]

Cyan Yoshi reappears as one of many playable characters in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. He goes by the name "Light-Blue Yoshi" in this game and is playable alongside three other colored Yoshis being green, red, and yellow. Like with his fellow Yoshis, Cyan Yoshi cannot take damage from regular enemies. However, he cannot use any of the powerups in the game and can still lose a life by following down a pit or being crushed.
