Mario Party

The Cursed Dice Block is a recurring type of Dice Block in the Mario Party series. It first appears in Mario Party: Star Rush and returns in Mario Party Superstars.

In Mario Party series[]

Mario Party: Star Rush[]

A Cursed Dice Block only appears in World 2-2 and World 2-3 of Toad Scramble. Here, a Cursed Dice Block comes from obtaining a false duplicate of a character, which is actually a Peepa in disguise. The Peepa bestows a curse on the team in the form of a Cursed Dice Block, which has two 0's and four -1's; the former does nothing while the latter subtracts from the player's total roll by one. After a set period of time, the Peepa disappears.

Mario Party Superstars[]

Here, the Cursed Dice Block functions similarly to the Poison Mushroom from Mario Party 3. The item's user can either forcefully apply it to another character for a turn or on themselves. A Cursed Dice Block only allows a character to roll from 1 to 3 during that turn. It is possible to cancel the effect of a Cursed Dice Block by using a Mushroom, Double Dice, Triple Dice, or Custom Dice Block. After being used, the Cursed Dice Block disappears.

On Yoshi's Tropical Island and Peach's Birthday Cake, if a character passes by Bowser, he sometimes forcefully sells them a Cursed Dice Block at a considerably higher price than at the Item Shop, where it instead costs three coins to purchase.
