A cup represents a series of a few courses in the Mario Kart series, usually four. The first four cups appear in Super Mario Kart, including Mushroom Cup, Flower Cup, Star Cup and Special Cup, the most recurring cups in the series. Aside from the Mario Kart games, cups have also appeared in some other Mario spinoffs, such as the Mario Tennis series, Mario Strikers series, and Mario Hoops 3-on-3, in which they instead represent a group of sports stadiums to be played on.
