The Cucumber is a kart used by Yoshi in Mario Kart DS. His other karts include the Egg 1 and the Standard YS. This kart is in the shape of a cucumber and appears to resemble a car from the 1930s. This kart is long, so it sometimes doesn't need to jump over small holes in tracks.
The Cucumber has great Acceleration, Handling and Items (stat), whilst Speed and Drift is slightly hindered. It has an average Weight boost. In terms of hidden stats, the Cucumber features good Off-Road speed and Mini-Turbo, only being weaker to the Egg 1 and Standard YS.
It is one of the few karts in the game that doesn’t share any of its stats with any other kart, apart from Items, which is shares with all other characters' heavier karts.
This kart is also very similar to the Classic Dragster in Mario Kart Wii in both appearance and stats. It is also similar to the Zucchini (Gherkin in the British English version) in Mario Kart 7, in terms of its appearance only. The Tri-Speeder from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can also be considered to be the Cucumber's successor.
Once the Nitro Grand Prix cups in 100cc are completed, only Yoshi can use this kart. Once the 150cc Nitro or Retro Grand Prix cups are completed, Luigi and Dry Bones can use this kart. Once all cups in Mirror Mode have been completed, all characters can use this kart.
