"Hey, shouldn't those weird sliding things stop for crossing pedestrians? What a bunch of road hogs."
Kersti, Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Cooligans are penguin enemies which first appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

They are similar looking to a penguin wearing black sunglasses. They are originally located in icy areas.

In the Super Mario series[]

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[]

Cooligans appear in various levels in World 3. They would continuously slide on the ice, bouncing off obstacles. It takes two jumps to defeat a Cooligan. If Ice Mario uses an Ice Ball to freeze Cooligan into an Ice Block, he stand on it, although the frozen Cooligan breaks upon colliding with a solid object, defeating the Cooligan in the process.

New Super Mario Bros. U/New Super Luigi U[]

Cooligans act the same as in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. However, Cooligans occasionally block the path on the world map. If Mario or another playable character bumps into a Cooligan here, they have to defeat the Cooligans in an Enemy Course, and in doing so, they are rewarded a Rainbow Star.

In Paper Mario: Sticker Star[]

Cooligans appear in the Snow Rise and Ice Flow levels of World 4. In Snow Rise, Cooligans are seen sliding down a snow-covered slope. In Ice Flow, Cooligans are seen waddling down the ice path before sliding; this is the first instance in which Cooligans are shown walking. Mario can not face Cooligans in battle, but he takes two HP of damage if he touches one.

In Mario Party 9[]
