Connect the Characters is one of Mario's minigames in Super Mario 64 DS. It is similar to Mario's Slides in that both involve the characters drawing a line to guide an object down the correct path.

Layout

The background graphic suggests that Connect the Characters takes place within the Rec Room.

Gameplay

There is a figurine of the four playable characters in the main adventure—Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, and Wario, although only the former two are present at first while the latter two are added later on. Each character has their head detached from their body, so the objective for the player is to guide each head as they travel down the white lines onto the correct body. Before the heads start moving, the player can use the Stylus to draw horizontal lines between the four main vertical ones. Once finished, the player can tap the "GO!" button on the Touch Screen to have the heads begin sliding down the paths. If any head is matched to the wrong body, the minigame ends.

Each time the player completes five rounds, the difficulty increases. The lines drawn by the player in the first round of each difficulty are retained for the following three, but are removed whenever a new level of difficulty begins.
