- "His Coconut Gun can fire in spurts
If he shoots ya, it's gonna hurt!"
The Coconut Shooter, also known as the Coconut Gun, is a weapon owned by Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong 64.
In Donkey Kong 64[]
Donkey Kong can purchase his Coconut Shooter at Funky's Store for three Banana Medals. Donkey Kong's Coconut Shooter appears to be a hollowed out log. The Coconut Shooter can fire out coconuts that can be used on Coconut Switches or to defeat enemies.
Trivia[]
In the beta version of Donkey Kong 64, the Coconut Gun was a genuine firearm - a double-barreled shotgun, similar to how Diddy Kong's Peanut Popgun were pistols. Although they were actually used as placeholders, when Rareware presented the game to Shigeru Miyamoto, the developers forgot to remove them, and since their firing sound were that of what the weapons are based on, Miyamoto himself was horrified. Of course, the change to their final designs was to avoid controversy in a family-friendly game.
