Cobrat is an enemy which made its debut in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, localized as Super Mario Bros. 2 in western countries.
In Super Mario Bros. 2[]
They jump out of the sand where they hide in or hide in jars then jump out to attack and are mainly located in them. Their possible leader may be Tryclyde. They, like Snifits, can shoot out black projectiles. They can cause a domino effect if in a line.
In Super Mario All-Stars[]
A Cobrat also appears in the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3. It replaces the dog as the King of Grass Land's transformation.
In Mario Pinball Land[]
They reappear in Mario Pinball Land, after sixteen years of no new appearances, in the Shifting Sands Stage as common enemies. Oddly, they change their coloration to green instead of red in this game.
Trivia[]
- According to the manual of Super Mario Bros. 2, Cobrats are said to commonly appear in Toad's dreams.
- The boss Triclyde is confirmed to be a Cobrat.
- Cobrat is a pun on "Cobra", a kind of snake.
