Coal is a key item in Mario Party Advance.

At the Train Station, Shy Guy asks the player's character to retrieve some Coal for him so that the trains can start moving again. Shy Guy says that the Coal can be bought in the Town Area, and he gives a clue by stating that they are not found in Junk.
During Shy Guy's quest, Locomotionless, the player's character can obtain Coal from the Vending Machines. Here, Coal is the only product sold, possibly making them based on cola. After obtaining some Coal, the player's character must return with it to Shy Guy. When he is given the Coal, Shy Guy happily rewards the player with the Cake Maker Gaddget.
Trivia[]
- If the Vending Machines are visited outside of the Locomotionless quest, the player's character remarks that they do not need coal and leaves afterward.
