Cloudy Court Galaxy is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is the second galaxy to focus mainly on the Cloud Flower as a mechanic (with the prior being Fluffy Bluff Galaxy). Cosmic Clones are used in two of the missions. It is located in World 3.

Missions[]

Head in the Clouds[]

This is the only main mission in the galaxy. Mario starts out with a Cloud Flower in front of him, and some small platforms and clouds interspersed across a long distance. Mario can use the power-up to go across this, and then find a planet with a windmill. This windmill makes a current of wind, so that the clouds Mario creates follow a trail. This wind leads him to the Percussion Area, where Mario can bounce all the way to a Launch Star. After following some more wind currents to bypass some large gaps, Mario can take another Launch Star to a 2D section that looks like a castle. Following some more wind currents with the 2D restriction, and dodging a moving wall, Mario can climb all the way to a Power Star.

The Shadow Lining[]

This mission can only be selected, unless already cleared, if a Clone Comet is in orbit. Mario must start by collecting Star Chips on a path made up of Assembly Blocks. However, Cosmic Clones will spawn and copy Mario's movements. Once Mario gets the Star Chips he takes a Launch Star to the 2D Castle Planet, but it's different this time, as more Assembly Blocks will spawn to make some new paths for Mario to follow. Once Mario reaches the end he will break open a crystal with the Star caged inside.

Silver Stars in the Purple Pond[]

On the first Cylinder Planet after the Percussion Area, there is a Hungry Luma demanding 30 coins. Once Mario feeds him the coins he transforms into the Purple Pond Planet. Here there are five Silver Stars that are on top of cloud platforms, that Mario can use the Cloud Flower to obtain. There are some Cosmic Clones that will spawn, with one being spawned for every Silver Star you have, so Mario must work quickly and efficiently. Once the Silver Stars are collected the Cosmic Clones will disappear and Mario can return to the start to get the Star.

Green Star Missions[]

All Green Stars are found in the Head in the Clouds mission.

Green Star 1[]

On the very first planet, get the Cloud Flower and go to the hedge shaped like a dinosaur. Very high above its head lies Green Star 1.

Green Star 2[]

On the cymbal in the Percussion Area, you can see Green Star 2 far in the distance. You will need to conserve your clouds for this, as it is really far out.

Green Star 3[]

At the very end of the level, behind the final windmill, Green Star 3 is there. You will have to approach carefully since the wind blows you away from it.

Starting Area[]

Cloudy Court Level

the starting area

The first planet features a path leading to the Cloud Flower with a Flaptack waiting above it. There is a cloud with a coin above it on the left, and a dinosaur-shaped hedge to the right. Above the dino head is Green Star 1. Next there is a large gap with a few cloud platforms and small grass platforms. There is a Life Mushroom and a ? Coin (spawning Coins) in this area. Next is a planet with a wooden pedestal in the path of a windmill's wind, and a Whittle telling Mario to use it. This takes Mario to the Percussion Area.

Percussion Area[]

Here are four snare drums with a cymbal at the top. The drums bounce Mario very high when he steps on them. There is a ? Coin with a large quantity of coins, but the coins disappear after a while so Mario must hurry to grab them. If Mario does a Ground Pound on the center of the cymbal, it stops moving and a large amount of Star Bits spawn on it. In the distance lies Green Star 2.

Cylinder Planets[]

The first of these planets have the Hungry Luma and a hedge shaped like a hippo. It also has a wood pedestal with a wind current blowing upwards, which will carry Mario's clouds up to a higher planet. This planet has a teleporter, and a trampoline bouncing him to another wind current, this time blowing sideways. Mario is led to a third cylindrical planet which has a Launch Star on the top. There is a secret hollow area in its middle with a 1-Up Mushroom inside.

2D Castle[]

This planet stretches out very far, so it is quite long. Mario will use the Cloud Flower in a 2D area, and wind is there to guide him through. He will have to wall jump at one point, which can lead him to another gap, this time with no wind. There are a few thorny plants and Flaptacks along the way. After that is are two walls which move back and forth, with potential to crush Mario between them. Inside a safe zone in the middle of them lies the Comet Medal. Once Mario goes up higher to stand on the walls, the Power Star is in sight. Green Star 3 is behind the windmill creating the wind here. Mario must get up to it while being pushed away by wind.

Changes In The Shadow Lining[]

This area is modified a bit in the comet mission, with Assembly Blocks scattered throughout it and the Cloud Flowers and enemies being removed. Mario must wall jump off some Assembly Blocks and follow a linear path to the area just before the moving walls, which now has a Sling Star to take him to the Star trapped in a crystal.

Assembly Block Area[]

This is only visited in The Shadow Lining. Mario must collect Star Chips on a path made of Assembly Blocks and grass platforms, while being chased by Cosmic Clones.

Purple Pond Planet[]

This is only visited in Silver Stars in the Purple Pond. It is a large bowl of dark matter with cloud platforms in winding paths above it. Touching the dark matter will instantly destroy Mario. He can use a Cloud Flower provided to him to go around the paths collecting five Silver Stars. But Cosmic Clones will appear, with each Silver Star collected spawning one of them. Once Mario collects all of the Silver Stars he should return to the start of the planet to claim the Star.

Trivia[]

  • For some reason, The Shadow Lining is a prerequisite for every other Clone Comet in the game. Because of Puzzle Plank Galaxy's Clone/Purple Comet being a prerequisite for every Purple Comet in the game, this means that The Shadow Lining is also responsible for every Purple Comet.
    • This is made up for by the fact that The Shadow Lining requires the least amount of Comet Medals in the game, with only 1 needed to activate the comet.
  • The Prima Guide claims this Galaxy is mostly about music in the sky when the actual galaxy only has one small section with instruments.
  • When Mario bounces on the drums, a drumroll sound effect plays on his way back down.
  • The original E3 trailer shows footage of Yoshi making an appearance in this galaxy, but this is not the case in the final version of the game.
