Super Mario

Cloud Mario is a powered-up version of Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Description[]

When either Mario or Luigi touch a Cloud Flower, they become their Cloud form. The power-up comes with three clouds that trail behind Mario and can be used to get reach areas that are otherwise inaccessible, including certain cloud platforms that Mario would otherwise fall through in his regular form. The player can have Cloud Mario or Cloud Luigi deploy a temporary cloud by shaking the Wii Remote, upon which the cloud remains for ten seconds before disappearing. A cloud can disappear prematurely if either a Bullet Bill or any other missile touches it. If Cloud Mario uses up all three clouds, he cannot create another unless he collects another Cloud Flower, refilling his supply of three clouds. Cloud Mario can jump farther and fall slower than he otherwise could. Like Bee Mario, if Cloud Mario touches water, he loses the power-up.

In Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

Cloud Mario is most prominently used in Fluffy Bluff Galaxy and Cloudy Court Galaxy. The power-up also appears in Puzzle Plank Galaxy, where it can be used to defeat Bugaboom. In Throwback Galaxy, the Cloud Mario form is required to collect all five Silver Stars in two different missions. In Starshine Beach Galaxy, Cloud Mario is needed to climb to the top of the Cloudy Tower on the main planet. In Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker, Cloud Mario is needed to climb high enough to Ground Pound the cockpit of Bowser Jr.'s Boomsday Machine and defeat Bowser Jr.

Cloud Mario is last used in Grandmaster Galaxy, where he is required to navigate an electric maze. Here, Mario cannot replenish his clouds after using them up nor can he remove the power-up, so Mario always completes the mission The Perfect Run while in his Cloud form.

In Mario Tennis Open[]

There is both an unlockable Cloud Mario costume and racket for Miis. The Cloud Mario costume can be unlocked by giving ten characters a star rank, and racket for this costume costs 1800 coins for Miis to use.

In Mario Golf: World Tour[]

There is an unlockable Cloud Mario costume, Cloud Mario golf ball, and Cloud Mario golf club set each. Both the Cloud Mario golf ball and club set appear in the shop after playing rounds, and the Cloud Mario costume becomes available after succeeding twenty times in Endless Approach Practice.
