Not to be confused with the Chiritorie microgame and the Chiritorie minigame featuring Chiritori.

Chiritori (Japanese for "Dustpan") is a remote-control vacuum toy machine created by Gunpei Yokoi and released by Nintendo in 1979. It is not Mario merchandise, but it is featured within two WarioWare microgames as well as a full minigame within the series.

Description[]

Chiritori is a round, red device with an antenna on the top. It is paired with a red remote control with only one white button. Chiritori takes four C cells and a 9 volt block to operate, and the remote itself takes another 9 volt block to operate.

When turned on, Chiritori spins around, and holding the button moves Chiritori straight into the direction it last faced in while spinning. Although Chiritori can be used as an actual vacuum cleaner, but it is very small, being only 16 centimeters in width, and is not designed for cleaning an entire room.

In the WarioWare series[]

Chiritori is controlled the same in both the Chiritorie microgame and the Chiritorie minigame. By default, Chiritori spins around, with a yellow arrow pointed in the direction that it faces. Holding A Button causes Chiritori to travel straightforward, corresponding to the remote shown, which has an A displayed on it, and being much like what the real-world Chiritori can do. Whenever Chiritori hits a wall, it begins moving in the opposite direction.

In the Chiritorie microgame, the player's character has to have Chiritori vacuum crumpled paper on the ground within a few seconds. In level 1, Chiritori only has to vacuum one piece. In level 2, it has to vacuum four pieces. Lastly, in level 3, Chiritori has to vacuum seven pieces.

In the minigame, there is a red Chiritori, which one player controls using the L Button button, and a blue Chiritori, which another player controls using R Button on the same unit. A remote of the corresponding color is shown on the left and right sides of the screen and displays which button has to be held for the Chiritori of the same color to move around. Blue was never a color for real-world Chiritoris. Both players have to compete to be the first to vacuum up a hundred pieces of trash. Aside from the difference in controls, the minigame is not that different from the microgame. However, at random intervals, Jimmy T. walks onscreen, and vacuuming Jimmy causes a Chiritori to clog up and therefore spit out wads of paper, including a big one worth five points.

Chiritori is featured in 18-Volt's boss microgame Dustpan. Chiritori, let alone the microgame itself, is designed after the Chiritorie microgame from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!. It has to vacuum all of the crumpled paper while avoiding a Green Fireball roaming around.

WarioWare Gold[]
