"Gorumbla! I thought you were sorry, but you're back to misbehaving."
—Willma scolds the Gorumbla upon catching him wreaking havoc again, Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Chief Willma, often referred to by just her name, is a supporting character in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Willma is the leader of the Rumbla Village on Rumbla Island, and the mother of Maykit and Billdit.

Profile[]

Personality[]

Chief Willma is the leader of the Rumbla Village on Rumbla Island. She is very protective of the village's residents and art, and has a distain for the Gorumbla, who fears her but just wanted her to notice him, to the point where she mocks him for saying sorry instead of accepting the apology, although they make amends later when she realises just how far she was going in her efforts to get the Gorumbla in line after being called out by her offspring.

Physical Appearance[]

Chief Willma looks more blocky than most Concordian humanoids. Her skin is light yellow and her getup is white, covered with an apron.

History[]

Willma is first seen during the first visit to her island by Mario and Luigi. She stands up to a few Guardarms destroying the town's art, but she is incapacitated by back pain, forcing the Bros. to step in for her. Mario and Luigi defeat the monsters, so Willma opens their path to the lighthouse of Rumbla Island and gives accessories made by Maykit and Billdit to the Bros., telling them that Maykit and Billdit are lost. After the Bros. find Willma's children, the Gorumbla goes on his first rampage through Rumbla Island, only to be beaten by the Bros. and sent into orbit by the chief. Shortly after, Willma gives the Bros. a Return Pipe that she created.

Later, the Gorumbla goes on another rampage since he has been corrupted by Glohm. Willma witnesses his rampage and tries to stop him, but fails, with the monster claiming to never have been raised by anyone, much to her horror. When Mario and Luigi cleanse him, the Gorumbla tries apologising, but Willma rejects the apology only to be called out by her children and reminded that the Gorumbla is part of the family, too. This results in a Bond being collected.

Behind the Scenes[]

Etymology[]

Willma presumably got her name from the word "will" (as in "will into existence") and "ma," a short form of "mother" or "mama."
