Charlieton is a character and a salesman who appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
History[]
He is found in the central plaza in Rogueport. He often sells rare items and badges to those who he meets. Charlieton says that he comes from a far away place out of the Rogueport area. His inventory changes every time Mario leaves Rogueport for a long time. After his return, Charlieton has new items in his inventory and restocks the previous ones later on. His items vary from the weak Dried Shroom to the unique to seemingly useless W Emblem badge. He is very similar to that of Rip Cheato from the first Paper Mario game, though Charlieton lets Mario know what he's paying for.
Mario also find Charlieton in the Pit of 100 Trials. Charlieton sells many items such as Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, POW Blocks, Thunder Rages, Super Shrooms, and Honey Syrup. The further in the pit, the higher the cost of these items.
In the remake, Charlieton can now be found in Boggly Woods right near the warp pipe that leads to The Great Tree. As always, Charlieton can sell up to 4 items at a time to Mario and can be quite useful if Mario requires items to help him out in Boggly Woods (most notably the upcoming fight against The Three Shadows).
Etymology[]
His name is a play on the word "charlatan."
