Mario Entering Toad Town (Paper Mario)

Toad Town from Paper Mario is a good example of an urban-themed area.

Stages, levels, or locations with an urban theme are areas that usually take place in the city. This is one of the many reoccurring themes in the Mario franchise.

Other Traits and Features[]

Urban-themed areas take place in a city, usually inhabited by friendly townsfolk. Typically, there are not many hazards in urban-themed stages but, in the Mario Kart series, certain urban-themed tracks have cars as hazards. A good example of this is Toad's Turnpike.

Small towns such as Petalburg in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door aren't urban-themed as they are not really cities. Rogueport is counted as one instead as it is the main hub of the game.
