Castle of Priscilla the Peckish is the eighth level of World 3 in Yoshi's Island DS. It is the game's third Scary Castle and a Blue Yoshi takes control in this level. This level takes place in a castle with plenty of traps and obstacles with the most common being Spikes, Thorns (which make their debut), and gushing waters which push Yoshi down hindering and/or preventing his jumps, this level also contains several Arrow Wheels and Paddle Wheels needed to cross several obstacles as well as lakes in the Castle's basement where creatures like Lunge Fish and Wall Lakitus can be seen lurking. The boss of this level is Priscilla the Peckish, a hungry and monstrous ant-like creature who lives below the sand and was enlarged by Kamek's magic and the overall boss of World 3.

Walkthrough[]

Starting off the level, advance to the right and pass the gushing water from above as you collect the Coins, tag the Stork Stop on the ledge here and switch to Baby Wario (if you haven't already) and continue advancing the right. Fill up your egg supply via the Egg-Plant and use Baby Wario's magnet to pull down the Magnet Platform, once the Magnet Platform rises again, hop off it and use Baby Wario's magnet to collect all the Coins above, three of these Coins are Red Coins so be sure to obtain these. Be sure to toss an egg at the Smiley Flower too (typically, you're supposed to flip the platforms with the Arrow Block in the next section, but this strategy is quicker). Once done, use your eggs to pull up the spiked blockage and press on. From here, swallow any Shy Guys that pop out of the Pipes and use the Arrow Blocks to flip the platforms so the spikes aren't facing upward, once you reach the top next to the door, you will see two flippable platforms and in between them are two Coins, one of these Coins is a Red Coin you can either flip the platforms with the Arrow Block by the door or use Baby Wario's magnet to obtain them. Once you've collected these, exit the area through the door.

In the next room, advance to the left and run by the gushing waters from above (this water is periodic and will push you down or stop your jumps if you end up under it so wait for it to recede before continuing), collect the Coins along the way and switch to Baby Wario at the Stork Stop (if you haven't already), at the hallway's end, you will see a passageway blocked by some Flippers, use Baby Wario's magnet to pull down the Magnet Platform above and hit the Arrow Blocks to flip the platforms around as you go, as you hop across the flippable platforms and Donut Lifts, avoid the gushing water from the pipes above as these will push you down forcing you to climb back up, there are several Coins along this upper path with two of them being Red Coins, once you've collected them, drop down the Magnet Platform at the end and wait for the gushing water at the end here to recede (as it will push you into the Spikes below) and collect the Coins and Red Coin above the gaping hole, drop down to this hole to enter a secret area.

Upon dropping down into the Castle's basement, you will end up in the waters, swim to the right and hop up to the ledge and switch to Baby DK at the Stork Stop, beat the Lantern Ghost to your right but watch out for the Lunge Fish in the water below the ledge as it will attempt to eat you if you get too close. Once done, hop back into the water and swim to the left, as you progress, watch out for the Gooey Goons that attack from the ceiling, beat these guys and hop up to the ledges above to grab the Baby Coin near some Lantern Ghosts, from here, continue swimming to the left while beating any Gooey Goons that attack from above and collect some Yellow Eggs from the yellow Egg Blocks near the end, toss an egg at the Winged Cloud at the corridor's end to get some Stars and exit the door.

Upon returning to the upper floor, advance to the right, through the Flippers and return to the Stork Stop and switch to Baby Wario (other babies work too but Baby Wario is recommended due to his magnet). Retake the path you took earlier but this time, jump over the gaping hole once the gushing waters recede and collect the Coins and Red Coin along the next gap with Spikes above, from here, avoid the next water gushes and upon hopping up to the next ledge, carefully drop down to the lower ledge just above the Spikes where a Smiley Flower is, once you collect it, wait for the above gushing waters to recede and hop across the Spikes, hop across the next set of Spikes and collect the Coins (there is no gushing waters above this Spike set. Once done, tag the Middle Ring and enter the top Pipe of the three,

This Pipe will lead you to a room with a Large Spring Ball, use it to reach the upper ledges and collect the Coins here, pound the Box here to obtain the Key (this Key unlocks the door to the right which is blocked off by Flippers), once done, exit the room through the Pipe and enter the middle Pipe, this will lead you to a small room with a Stork Stop, switch to Baby Peach and then exit the room back through the Pipe and enter the bottom Pipe, here, advance to the right and use Baby Peach's wind-flying abilities to glide with the wind while avoiding the Podoboo Cogs (if you're using any other baby, you would have to make use of the Arrow Wheel in this room but using Baby Peach is heaps faster). In between the spinning Podoboo Cogs, there are several Coins (two of them are Red Coins) and a Smiley Flower, obtain all these and (optionally) hit the Hint Block here (which hints that you can swallow Arrow Wheels for use in other places). Once you reach the upper ledges, hop up them and use the series of Spring Balls to reach the top ledges (whilst avoiding the Podoboo Cogs, hop to the left ledge to tag the Middle Ring and then hop to the right ledge to enter the Pipe.

In this next area, drop down the gaping drop here and then enter the Pipe to the left, you will end up on the right side of the room with the wind you were just in, use the Large Spring Ball to hop up to the upper ledge and grab the Coins and Red Coin then pound the Box to get yet another Key, exit through the Flippers and unlock the door here with the Key to play a minigame (Bouncy Maze), after this, hop to the door to the left and unlock it with the other Key you got to play another minigame (Tulip Shooter), once you're done playing the minigames, hop up the ledges and jump with the Spring Balls while avoiding the Podoboo Cogs then use the Pipe on the upper right ledge to return to the room from whence you came.

Once you return back to where you were, advance to the right and hop up to the Stork Stop, switch to Baby Wario as his abilities are needed to obtain the Coins below, drop into the gaping hole here to enter the Castle's second basement waterway. Here, swim to the left and beat the Lantern Ghosts on the ledge then quickly jump to it as a Lunge Fish is below the ledge ready for a good snack. Collect the two Coins above the ledge as one of them is a Red Coin, once done, jump back into the water and swim to the right, as you swim, Wall Lakitus and Gooey Goons will emerge to attack and attempt to hinder you. Beat these guys and collect the dual Coins by each torch here as the third torch has a Red Coin to the left, once done, hop up to the ledges and beat the Lantern Ghosts and use Baby Wario's magnet to pull the Magnet Platform down and collect the Coins, from here, hop across the moving stone blocks that emerge from the water and beat the Gooey Goons along the path, collect the Coins here as one of them is a Red Coin, and hop and swim to the right, on the lone moving stone block, launch an egg up in the small tunnel above to collect the Coins and the Smiley Flower above, from here, continue swimming and hop to the ledge with the door, before entering, advance a bit to the right and collect the Coins here as one is a Red Coin, swallow the Lantern Ghost on the opposite platform (this will have to be done from the platform you're standing on as a Lunge Fish is directly below the Lantern Ghost's ledge), reveal the hidden Winged Cloud in between the ledges and spit a Lantern Ghost at it to get some Stars, once these have been collected, exit through the door.

In this next room, tag the Middle Ring and jump across the Spikes and switch to Baby DK at the Stork Stop, hop across the Ferris Wheels above the Spikes and then hop to the ledge, next, jump to the yellow Ferris Wheel just above the Spikes and then hop to the purple Ferris Wheel, be sure to collect all the Coins along this one as the third one is a Red Coin, once done, hop to the Paddle Wheel and spin it across the Spikes. From here, launch an egg to clear away the Thorns in the corner of the room (Baby DK is recommended for this as his egg throws explode on impact making it much quicker to clear them away), there are two hidden Winged Clouds amidst where the Thorns were, one contains Stars while the other contains a 1-Up. Once done, hop to the upper ledge and get some eggs from the Egg Block and then approach the metal gate, as you approach it, it opens allowing you to obtain the Smiley Flower. Once you've collected this, drop back down to the smaller Paddle Wheel and spin it to the right, from here, hop to the ledge and then jump to the moving Flatbed Ferries, there are clusters of Thorns here requiring some ducks to make it through but if you're using Baby DK, you can easily clear them all away with his egg tosses making crossing the Spikes easier, once you've cleared the Flatbed Ferries, hop to the next ledge and onto the yellow Ferris Wheel (there is a Magnet Platform above it with several Coins above, a Stork Stop isn't too far from here to switch to Baby Wario to get these Coins but none of the Coins are actually Red Coins). Hop across the spinning Ferris Wheels, collect the Coins along them the last Ferris Wheel at the end has a Red Coin on it's Coin line, once done, tag the Middle Ring, switch to a baby of your choosing and then enter the Red Door.

BOSS BATTLE: Priscilla the Peckish[]

Upon entering the room, you will land on a Pipe above a flowing sand pit, Kamek will arrive and use his magic to make a large ant-like creature named Priscilla the Peckish emerge from the sand, during the battle, Priscilla will munch from her pit and spit Needlenoses at you. Shy Guys also pop out from the Pipes on the sides of the arena only to fall into the sand pit to be eaten by Priscilla, you yourself should try to avoid slipping off the platforms and into the flowing sand because if you fall down to Priscilla or she manages to swallow you (as she leaps) you will be briefly swallowed and she will spit you out (which causes you to lose Stars), to defeat Priscilla, avoid the Needlenoses she spits at you and hop to the opposite platform above her, as you hop, she will leap from the pit's center to attempt to swallow you, pelt her with an egg to knock her back down, occasionally, a Glide Guy may descend from above at which point Priscilla will leap up to snack on it leaving you with a clear chance to pelt her. After two hits, Priscilla becomes more aggressive and spits more Needlenoses, after three hits though, she is defeated and shrinks to nothing and from there, World 3 is completed.

Story[]

After Priscilla the Peckish's defeat, Baby Wario's obsession with Coins and treasure gets the better of him and upon seeing a team of Bandits carrying Coins, he decides to join them in a bid to earn more Coins for himself abandoning the team.

Baby Coin Location[]

Upon dropping down the first gaping hole through the gushing water and entering the Castle's first basement waterway, swim to the right and switch to Baby DK at the nearby Stork Stop (if you're not using him) and from here, swim to the left and hop up the long ledges by the Gooey Goons to obtain the Baby DK Coin.

Enemies Encountered[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the only Scary Castle where the giant exit door always spawns in the same location once the boss is defeated. Upon Priscilla the Peckish's defeat, Yoshi and the baby will automatically fall into the center of the sand flow (where Priscilla was) where the door will appear.
  • This is one of the few levels in the game to have two minigames.
