The Cape Feather is an item featured in a few games within both the Super Mario series and Mario Kart series. It first appears in Super Mario World.
In Super Mario series[]
Super Mario World[]
The Cape Feather is first found in Donut Plains 1. Touching it transforms Mario or Luigi into their Cape form and earns the player 1,000 points.
The Cape Feather allows Mario or Luigi to fly and jump very high after getting a running start. Its ability to grant flight is similar to that of the Super Leaf and Tanooki Suit, although the flight can be endless if properly controlled. The Cape Feather can also allow Mario or Luigi the ability to float down like a parachute and defeat most enemies by whacking them with the cape when nearby. The Cape Feather can also be used to counter Mario from getting hit by enemies and repel enemy projectiles such as footballs and baseballs thrown by Chargin' Chucks. Unlike the Super Leaf and Tanooki Suit in Super Mario Bros. 3, the Cape Feather can attack enemies underwater.
Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3[]
Some e-Reader cards unlock World-e levels that utilize the Cape Feather. Aside from this, there are also e-Reader power-up cards that add the Cape Feather as an additional power-up in the main game.
In Mario Kart series[]
Super Mario Kart[]
The Cape Feather is used in Super Mario Kart, in which it is named Feather, as one of the items that racers can obtain from an Item Box. Using a Feather allows its user to do one high spinning jump, about double the height the drivers are normally able to. The Feather is effective for jumping over barriers, as a quick and easy shortcut, and for jumping over enemy projectiles. However, if used improperly, the Feather may cause its user to land out of bounds.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
The Cape Feather is an item appearing only in Battle Mode. It functions the same as in Super Mario Kart.
