The Cape Feather allows Mario or Luigi to fly and jump very high after getting a running start. Its ability to grant flight is similar to that of the Super Leaf and Tanooki Suit, however, the flight can be endless if properly controlled. It can also allow Mario or Luigi the ability to float down like a parachute, and defeat most enemies by whacking them with the cape when nearby. It could also be used to counter Mario from getting hit by enemies as well as repel enemy projectiles such as footballs and baseballs thrown by Chargin Chucks. Unlike the Super Leaf and Tanooki Suit in Super Mario Bros. 3, the Cape Feather could be used to attack enemies underwater. In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 for GBA, Nintendo released special e-reader level cards that utilize the Cape Feather as well as special e-reader power-up card that adds the Cape Feather as an extra power-up in the main game.

Super Mario World

Super Mario World

The Cape Feather is a new item that originated in Super Mario World that first appeared in Donut Plains 1, which transforms the player into Cape Mario or Cape Luigi, allowing either Mario or Luigi the ability to glide.

Super Mario Kart

The Cape Feather is used in Super Mario Kart as an item a driver could collect from Item Boxes throughout the race courses. The Feather's effect was the ability to hop roughly double the height the drivers are normally able to, as well as cause them to spin when they do jump. This would be useful for jumping over barriers, as a quick and easy shortcut and for jumping over enemy projectiles. However, it might cause players to land out of bounds accidentally.
