Burnstile is a 2-vs-2 minigame which first appears in Mario Party 6 and returns in Mario Party Superstars.
Layout[]
The minigame takes place inside of an area filled with lava, presumably within a volcano. Each team is standing on a hexagonal-patterned platform placed left and right of a spiked turnstile respectively. The spiked turnstile is placed within a rock formation protruding from the lava. The platform on the left is red while the platform on the right is blue. In Mario Party Superstars, the platforms are not colored as brightly as in Mario Party 6.
Gameplay[]
Both teams must avoid a spiked turnstile by jumping over it whenever it approaches them. At first, the turnstile moves slowly, but it moves slightly faster each time it makes a full circle, becoming increasingly harder to avoid. If a character hits the turnstile or falls into the lava, they are eliminated. The minigame does not have a Time Limit, and it continues up until at least both members of a team are eliminated. The minigame ends when either only one character or both characters on a team are remaining, making them the winner.
Controls[]
Both iterations of Burnstile utilize the same controls:
- Control Stick: Move
- A button: Jump
Trivia[]
- The minigame's name is a portmanteau of "burn" and "turnstile."
