Burners[2] (バーナー Bānā?, Burner) (also known as Rocket Engines or Flamethrowers) are obstacles in the Mario franchise.

Description[]

Burners are mechanic structures found on airships. When it is active, it summons fire with long range. It activates fire at specific intervals. The player becomes smaller or dies if he/she touches the fire. Tanooki Mario as a statue can defend itself from the flames.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario Bros. 3[]

Burners appear in Super Mario Bros. 3. They are located on airship levels.[1]

Super Mario Sunshine[]

Burners reappear in Super Mario Sunshine and are found in Corona Mountain. They resemble flattop grills. Mario can be extinguished the flames with his F.L.U.D.D..

New Super Mario Bros. series[]

Burners reappear in New Super Mario Bros., New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and New Super Mario Bros. 2, acting identically as before.
