Bumpers are an object which appear in a few Super Mario series installments. They first appear in New Super Mario Bros..

Description[]

A Bumper is an object which bounces back Mario or another character if they touch it. In their debut appearance, New Super Mario Bros., Bumpers have the appearance of semi-translucent yellow bubbles containing a plant-like design within them. Since their second appearance in Super Mario Maker, Bumpers are donut-shaped object, although the specifics of their design varies depending on the game style.

In Super Mario Maker[]

Bumpers can be placed in a level via shaking a Grinder. When the player makes contact with one, they will be bounced in the direction that they hit it from. In the Super Mario Bros. style, Bumpers appear with green and white stripes and two eyes with a similar look to Mr. Eraser. In the Super Mario Bros. 3 style, they appear with a white and lime-green checker pattern with the same eyes as the previous look. In the Super Mario World style, they appear with a pink and white diamond pattern, this time with two beady-looking eyes. In the New Super Mario Bros. U style, they have the same orange and yellow star pattern as Lemmy's Circus Balls.
