Bubble Count is a microgame in WarioWare: Get It Together!, being featured in Dribble & Spitz's Fantasy stage. It has double the time limit due to its logistics nature.
Layout[]
A fairy who thinks of the proper type of bubble sits on an hourglass at the right, her clothes and wings being the same colour to each other yet depending on the level and what type of bubble she is thinking: on the first two levels, the fairy can have a red hat, red dress, and red wings, or a blue hat, blue dress, and blue wings, depending on the colour of the bubbles on the screen (first level) or what colour she is thinking of (second level). On the third level, she always has a white hat, white dress, and white wings. The fairy usually has black dots for eyes, no nose, and a small mouth, but if the player wins, she has a happy face that gives her upside-down u's for eyes (à la Bomberman) and a big semicircle with the flat side up for a mouth to represent a smile. If the player loses, she loses her mouth and gets blank yellow triangles standing on the "long non-hypotenuse legs" with the hypotenuses on the top side and the short sides on the outside as eyes.
Gameplay[]
As the microgame's title suggests, players have to count how many bubbles of a specific type are on the screen, with the answer varying from 1 to 5. The fairy at the right will think of the proper type of bubble, while the sand in the hourglass that she is sitting on goes from the top to the bottom. Touching or attacking the bubbles pops them, changing the number, and if the necessary bubbles are popped, the fairy flies into a rage, stomping on the hourglass she was sitting on. If the player selects the correct answer, the fairy becomes happy and will fly upwards surrounded by bubbles. If the player selects an incorrect answer, the fairy angrily points to the true correct answer. The player can change which answer they will go with before time runs out.
The bubbles can be red or blue, and their shapes can either be hearts or stars.
Difficulty Levels[]
- Level 1 (Easy): The bubbles are identical in their shape and colour. No more than 5 can spawn. The fairy has the same colour wings and outfit as the bubbles do.
- Level 2 (Hard): The bubbles have the same shape, but their colours are different. The player must count all of the bubbles that are red or blue, depending on the prompt given. Up to ten bubbles can spawn, each colour having no more than 5 (not necessarily the same shape). The fairy has the same colour wings and outfit as the type of bubble she wants the player to select.
- Level 3 (Expert): The bubbles can be red OR blue, and either heart-shaped or star-shaped. Up to ten bubbles can spawn, each shape having no more than 5 (not neecessarily the same colour). The fairy's wings and outfit are white.
Suitability[]
Wario, Dribble, Spitz, Mike the Karaoke Bot, Ashley, Orbulon, and Red are decent fits due to their free movement. They are able to simply get to the correct answer without popping any bubbles. Additionally, even though he is deemed a "bad fit," Doctor Crygor technically counts as a decent fit due to his free movement and that players players can just mash (or hold) A to defy gravity. Jimmy Thang shares this distinction with him, his ramming attack being able to be aimed to the outside of the area and being able to defy gravity so he doesn't change answers.
Young Cricket, 18-Volt, 5-Volt, and Master Mantis are okay fits. 18-Volt can just target the correct answer with his reticle, but the bubbles make up for that by spawning in random locations, while 5-Volt must spam her teleportation abilities to avoid falling off the correct answer.
Mona (due to her automatic movement meaning players have to constantly change the direction of her movement), 9-Volt (due to his automatic movement and the fact that he needs to strike upwards), Kat and Ana (as they automatically jump), and Lulu (due to her vertical movement) are deemed below-average fits.
Penny Crygor is an abysmal fit due to her water streams and inverse movement being capable of popping bubbles. Pyoro is also deemend an abysmal fit due to his diagonal aim.
Trivia[]
- Pop-Up Patrol features two red fairies from this microgame on one of the pop-up ads that must be removed.
Nomenclature[]
The Japanese translation calls this microgame "Shabondama Kaunto", which is written シャボンだまカウント; Shabondama (written シャボンだま) means "soap bubble," while Kaunto (written カウント) is a transliteration of "count." In the French version, the microgame's name is "Comptage de Bulles" (Bubble Counting), while in Italian, the name is "Contéggio di Bollas" (Counting Bubbles). The German translation has "Blasenzählerei," meaning "Bubble Counting." In Korean, the microgame is called "Binusbang-ul Segi," which means "Bubble Count" and is written 비눗방울 세기. The Spanish translation gives "Burbujómetro," which means "Bubble Meter," for the name.
