The Brute is Wario's first exclusive kart in Mario Kart DS. His other karts include the Standard WR and his unlockable kart, the Dragonfly. The Brute appears to be based of the Wario Car from Wario Land 4 and Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, but with a black and gray checkered pattern instead of purple.

The Brute has excellent top speed, followed by average acceleration, weight, handling and drift along with a low items rate, so get ready to get a lot of Bananas and Fake Item Boxes. This and Donkey Kong's Wildlife are the lightest karts within the heavyweight class.

It shares its acceleration with R.O.B.'s Standard RB, its weight is equivalent to Princess Peach's Royale, its handling is shared with Princess Peach's Light Tripper and it shares its drift with Dry Bones' Dry Bomber. It shares its items stat with all other characters' lighter karts.

Bowser and Waluigi can use the Brute once all cups in the 150cc Nitro or Retro Grand Prix have been completed, and all characters can use this kart once all cups in Mirror Mode have been completed.

The Flame Flyer and Bruiser (Growlster in the British English version) from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7 respectively could be considered the Brute's successor, due to its similar shape and style, as well as possibly the Badwagon from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Wario in the Brute is used as the staff ghosts for courses Wario Stadium and N64 Frappe Snowland, with the alotted times of 2:10:010 and 2:08:781 respectively.
