Brolder is an enemy which first appears in in Super Mario 3D World. They mainly resemble boulders.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Brolders are living boulders with a pair of eyes as well as yellow arms and hands.
Behavior[]
Brolders only roll around an area, and their only attack is rolling into Mario or another character's direction to try and harm them.
In Super Mario 3D World, a Brolder starts off hiding beneath the underground until it is approached, at which point the Brolder emerges from the ground. If a Brolder is hit by an attack, it temporarily becomes a regular boulder, lacking its distinct bodily features. However, if a Brolder is left alone for a while in its boulder state, it rumbles and returns to its normal form, then the Brolder resumes in trying to roll into the character.
In Super Mario 3D World / Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[]
Brolders mostly appear in lava-themed courses. However, when they are hit by an attack (or tapped on the Wii U GamePad in the original version), Brolders temporarily become regular boulders with no eyes or arms. In this form, a Brolder can be picked up and carried and thrown. If a character is holding a Brolder when it rumbles and returns to its regular form, they take damage before dropping it. A Brolder can be defeated by either picking it up and throwing it into the lava or from another Brolder being thrown at them.
Two Brolders are featured in the third room of Mystery House Marathon. Here, the player's character has to place each Brolder onto a P Panel and then stand on the remaining one for the Green Star to appear.
Brolders are led by Boss Brolder, who first appears the boss of World 4 before returning in Brolder Blockade Is Back and Boss Blitz. Brolders can be summoned from Boss Brolder, who can inadvertently defeat Brolders by rolling into them.
In Mario Golf: Super Rush[]
Brolders appear in several holes of Ridgerock Lake, especially the later ones. Brolders roll across the course, and in Speed Golf, if a character comes in contact with a Brolder, they trip. A Brolder can be destroyed by super-dashing into it.
