Mario Party

The Bowser Jr. Space is a space which appears in the Mario Party series. It first appears in Mario Party 9 and returns in Mario Party 10, functioning differently between both appearances, although both involve Bowser Jr.. It is based on the Bowser Space

In Mario Party 9[]

Whenever a Bowser Jr. Space is landed on, Bowser Jr. appears and challenges both the captain and another random character to play a Bowser Jr. minigame. If the captain is a CPU, the player's character (or one of the players in multiplayer) is always forced to participate in a Bowser Jr. minigame with the CPU. The minigame is selected at random by Bowser Jr., who asks the captain if they are sure they want to play the minigame. Even if the captain selects the answer "No," Bowser Jr. simply picks another minigame and forces them to play that one. If the team wins at the Bowser Jr. minigame, they earn five Mini Stars each, but if Bowser Jr. wins, he steals five Mini Stars from each character.

If only two players are playing, the Bowser Jr. Space does not appear on the game board. The DK's Jungle Ruins board does not feature any Bowser Jr. Space.

In Mario Party 10[]

Bowser Jr. Spaces have been changed to instead function similarly to the Bowser Space in earlier Mario Party games. Landing on a Bowser Jr. Space yields a negative effect from Bowser Jr., although not to the extent of a Bowser Space. In Mario Party mode, if the "Homestretch!" event has not yet occurred and Bowser is yet to be released, Bowser Jr. throws down Bob-ombs to create more Bowser Jr. Spaces. If Bowser has been released before the event, he replaces any Bowser Jr. Spaces with Bowser Spaces, and Bowser Jr. does not appear during the "Homestretch!" event.

Bowser Jr. Spaces are a variant of Event Spaces in the amiibo Party mode. Here, a Bowser Jr. Space forces the player's character to play a random Bowser Jr. Challenge. If Bowser Jr. wins, the character loses Coins, but if Bowser Jr. loses, the player's character earns coins. If the player is playing as Bowser, Bowser Jr. gives him coins without playing a minigame.
