Bowser Castle 3 is the fourth track of the Star Cup in Super Mario Kart. Like every Bowser Castle course, the entire race is held inside a large castle room filled with a big lava pool.

Layout[]

This track has typical elements of Bowser Castles, including falling Thwomps, zippers, jump lines and forks, are all to be found here. One major fork allows the player to choose one of three ways. The leftmost has six coins and one Dash Panel, but is farthest away and narrows the following turn into a hairpin. The easiest path to reach is the right one, which has a jump line and a Dash Panel directly behind such that a player who hits the jump line passes over the Dash Panel. To reach the Dash Panel, the player must time a hop over the jump line and activate the Dash Panel. The middle path has six coins and two jump lines with Item Boxes positioned behind them.

In Mario Kart: Super Circuit[]

It was subsequently reused in Super Circuit as the second track in the Extra Star Cup.

In Mario Kart Tour[]

Bowser Castle 3 returns in Mario kart Tour for the Bowser Tour of 2023. Unlike most SNES courses, it has received a major visual and gameplay overhaul, including a gate at its starting line in the form of two pillars that hold a banner in between them with the classic Mario Kart logo in red. Large stretches of the course have been tilted, including segments of lava. More walls, pillars, and ramps have been added, and dirt sections that count as off-road zones have been added, their design mimicking that of Bowser Castle 3 from Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Geysers erupt from the magma, making the jumps more treacherous. Additionally, at the split path section, the walls that separate the paths can be driven on, although due to their narrow width, they can be easily fallen off of. The two turns after the split path section have been merged into a single gradual 180-degree bend. Skeletal Piranha Plants now haunt the homestretch.

In the background, the arches no longer fill the horizon, and a volcano similar to the volcano from 3DS Bowser Castle has been added. As with the Donut Plains, Koopa Beach, and Vanilla Lake courses, the original Bowser Castle arrangement from Super Mario Kart has been used for this track.
