Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet is a galaxy in the game Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is the boss Galaxy of World 4, and like the other boss Galaxies, its icon depicts a castle in Bowser's image on top of a lake of lava. Bowser makes his second appearance here, with the boss being his giant form. Mario can get here with at least 40 Power Stars in his possession, including at least one from the Starshine Beach Galaxy or the Chompworks Galaxy.

Missions[]

Breaking into Bowser's Castle[]

First, Mario lands on Bowser's Castle. He needs to pass a Dry Bones, four Podoboos and a Fire Arm. Mario then gets on a metal platform and the gravity changes, and there is a Magikoopa. Then the gravity changes and Mario avoids eight Fire Arms. A Life Mushroom can be found on the corner. The gravity changes again and again until Mario enters the castle. Mario can find a Checkpoint Flag here. On top of a Brick Block, Mario can find the Comet Medal. After the gravity changes four more times, Mario enters some water. Enemies in the water include Cheep Cheeps and Fire Arms. When Mario exits the water, there is another Checkpoint. Above it, Mario can find a 1-Up Mushroom. The gravity changes and Mario comes to two Whomps. The gravity changes again and Mario finds a Fire Arm spinning platform, and a Launch Star. The player comes to the Big Door Planet. Mario needs to jump onto the Meteors and use his Ground Pound attack on them to send them into the locks (This planet also has an Item Crystal containing yet another Life Mushroom for the boss.). The door draws Mario in, bringing him to the Bowser Throne Planet.

Upon arrival, Bowser does not seem to be present like he was at his Lava Lair. Baby Luma is puzzled and looks around for him, but then a grumble is heard, and Bowser appears, initiating the battle. To defeat him, Mario must hit him with a Meteorite four times, much like the previous battle. However, this time both Bowser's pound attack and the falling of the meteors produces a shock wave when they hit. After two hits, Bowser uses his fire breath to burn parts of the planet Once defeated, he loses another Grand Star and shrinks back to regular size. As the Koopa King escapes again, Mario obtains the fourth Grand Star and travels back to Starship Mario, where the portal to World 5 is opened.

Gravity Star Speed Run[]

The Speedy Comet must be in orbit in order to selection this mission. This Power Star is at the very end of Bowser's Castle, on the left side of where the launch star was. To collect the power star, the player must wall jump on the wall that separates half on the final part to collect the star and Mario must do this within the time allotted to finish the level by getting + Clocks along the way.

Green Star 1[]

The first Green Star in this galaxy is on a sunken pillar in lava near the entrance to the castle. Mario can backward somersault onto the pillar. Also, Mario can jump into the lava to bounce up onto the pillar and grab the Star.

Green Star 2[]

The second Green Star in this galaxy is at the end of the castle above a Question Block. Mario can backward somersault and Star Spin to get the star. It is ideal to get the star with Luigi instead of Mario.

Planets[]

Starting Planet (Bowser's Castle Planet)[]

This planet is a large, irregularly-shaped planet that is based on a castle.

Starting Area[]

This section is where Mario lands. He has to traverse an outdoors walkway surrounded by lava.

  • Gravity: Uncertain.

Second Area (Castle Interior)[]

In this 2-dimensional section, Mario will find more fireballs jumping from the lava and will have to walk up the wall and onto the ceiling. The Comet Medal appears above a Brick Block near the beginning of the area, which marks a Checkpoint.

  • Gravity: Irregular.

Third Area (Flooded Passageway)[]

Mario has to navigate a flooded passageway accessed through the ceiling at the end of the second area. Cheep Cheeps and Fire Bars appear here.

  • Gravity: Upward.

Fourth Area (Whomp's Walkway)[]

Mario drops down here after navigating the flooded passageway. The beginning of this section marks the second Checkpoint.

Fifth Area[]

Mario has to navigate two small planetoids to the Launch Star. In the Speedy Comet, a Power Star appears instead. Both have Fire Bars.

  • Gravity: Standard.

Door Planet[]

The Launch Star that Mario finds following his trek through the final area of the starting planet whisks him here. A Meteor can be seen and must be sent flying into the locks that hold the door shut.

  • Gravity: Downward.

Throne Audience Planet[]

This is a star-shaped planet that Mario lands on upon his arrival into Bowser's domain.

  • Gravity: Downward.

Bowser Throne Planet[]

This is a massive chair-shaped planet. This time, Bowser makes his entrance from above, rather than waiting on the Throne Planet.

Bowser Battle Planet[]

This is a spherical, stone planet where Bowser is fought.

  • Gravity: Standard.
