Bottom of the Well

The Bottom of the Well is a location in Luigi's Mansion, though it technically is not part of the mansion itself. It is cleared in the third Area.

Layout[]

The Bottom of the Well is the smallest area of the mansion. It is accessed from a ladder inside the well in the Courtyard. It has only one short path to the right, where the hidden side of a lion statue is, providing a look into the Secret Altar.

In Luigi's Mansion[]

When Luigi enters the location, he peers through the mouth of a stone lion into the Secret Altar, where he sees Mario trapped in a painting guarded by King Boo. After Luigi is seen trying to reach his arm out, he stops looking through the lion status, and a Ceiling Surprise appears behind him, or a Purple Bomber in the Hidden Mansion of PAL releases and the Nintendo 3DS version. It is the only ghost encountered, so after Luigi captures it, the Key to the Rec Room appears.
