Template:Enemy Bony Beetles are skeleton version of Buzzy Beetle that first appears in Super Mario World. They later appear in Paper Mario.

Super Mario World

Similar to Dry Bones and how they are skeletal Koopas, Bony Beetles are skeletal Buzzy Beetles. These enemies, found within Ludwig von Koopa's castle, are immune to fire-based attacks as well as possess the ability to unleash spikes at Mario or Luigi.

Paper Mario

In Paper Mario, Bony Beetles make a reappearance within the dark cave-like tunnels within the lower levels of Bowser's Castle. During battle, Bony Beetles bring out their spikes every time they are hit by a jump or hammer attack; the opposite if they already have their spikes out when hit.

Tattle Information It's a Bony Beetle. They're bony Buzzy Beetles. ...Hence the name. It's tough to damage 'em. When their spikes are out, their attack power is 5. When they retract their spikes, take the opportunity to flip 'em over. After that, beating 'em will be a breeze.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

Bony Beetles also appear in the World-e of the Super Mario Advance 4 version of Super Mario Bros. 3, and they behave just as they did in Super Mario World.
