Super Mario

Bob-omb Squad is a minigame in Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros.. In the former game, it is one of Wario's minigames, whereas the latter features it as a Variety minigame.

Gameplay[]

The object is for the player to hit the falling Para-bombs by using a slingshot to launch small cannonballs at them. Every Para-bomb has to be destroyed to protect a garden with four flowers. The player can aim the slingshot using the Stylus and release to launch a cannonball. A Para-bomb rewards 100 points upon being hit, but if any Para-bombs are hit in succession, each one rewards an increasing number of points, the highest being 3,200 points. Lakitu sometimes appears onscreen, and if he is hit by a cannonball, all Para-bombs onscreen blow up, each rewarding 100 points as if they were destroyed individually.

As the minigame progresses, the speed of the Para-bombs falling increases, making it increasingly difficulty to protect the flowers. Whenever a Para-bomb touches a flower, both it and the flower are destroyed. If all four flowers are destroyed, it is a Game Over.

  • An airship sometimes flies by at the top of the upper screen, and is presumably where the Para-bombs are dropped from. The airship's sprites would be reused for Balloon Racing.
