Blue Yoshi (also called Dark Blue Yoshi) is a recurring color variant of the Yoshi species. One first appears alongside the main Yoshi character in Super Mario World.

Blue Yoshi has the distinct ability to fly whenever he has a Koopa Shell in his mouth.
In Yoshi franchise[]
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]
The Blue Yoshi is a darker shade of blue than in Super Mario World. Blue Yoshi is usually played as in the eighth and final level of each world, and he fights a boss at the end of each one. The only exception to this is King Bowser's Castle of World 6, where Green Yoshi is played instead.
Yoshi's Story[]
Blue Yoshi is among the playable Yoshis. His favorite food is Grapes.
Yoshi's Island DS[]
Just as in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Blue Yoshi usually explores the eighth and final level of each world, and he fights a boss at the end of each one. The sole exception to this is again the last boss level, At Last, Bowser's Castle! of World 5, which is accessed by the main Yoshi.
